Shelby Williams

Student Association Vice President, Shelby Williams, is known for her ability to communicate, both spoken and in writing.  With a maturity beyond her age, Shelby not only cares about her fellow students and the community, but the environment and the world.  After hearing about the destruction that Hurricane Katrina brought to New Orleans, Shelby organized a charitable group called "Mission Mardi Gras" and have raised over two thousand dollars for hurricane relief.  She also organized a poetry slam called "Christmas for Katrina" to raise money to help families at Christmas who had lost so much.  These activities reflect the type of person Shelby is.  Not only just to help others but to bring attention to their struggles.  As a leader in AHS, she was selected Freshman of the Year and has held several offices in both her class and the student body.  Shelby is also a natural performer and has been involved in many of the school activities.  Showing her creativity, she rewrote the famous "The Night Before Christmas" using a modern high school setting and characters.  Then she danced and performed a sax playing Grinch in a winter assembly extravaganza.  Other accomplishments include placing 1st in a Leeward Community College Essay/Poetry competition.
