March 17, 2005 In an article about Aiea High School written by Rod Ohira in the Honolulu Advertiser , out of 110 faculty staff members, 28 (actually 29) are graduates of Aiea High. Leisha (Wake) Bento, class of '83, feels the pride every time she sings the alma mater. "I think kids respond when they find out I'm an 'Aiea graduate. I think it makes them feel proud. I felt the same way when I was a student." Vice Principal Cheryl Morita, class of '71, says "It's wonderful because you know the grandparents, parents, uncles and aunts of some students and the whole 'Aiea history. The tradition has always been to give something back to the community that has helped us to succeed." This article pretty much sums up the reason why the AHSACA is in existence.
